Vesteda is a residential investor and landlord, focusing on sustainable and affordable housing in the middle segment. Data-driven working enables the organization to continuously improve the quality of service. Therefore, Vesteda is investing in innovations such as data science and artificial intelligence to make greater use of available data for decision-making. But in order to effectively collect, manage and process data, modernization of data management was first required. Valid Digital Business was brought in to help with this.
The ball started rolling at Vesteda after the implementation of the Tobias ERP system. This is a Microsoft Dynamics-based management system that replaced the existing on-premise application. Tobias offers numerous standard reports, but Vesteda wanted more customized reports, and to be able to build these itself via self-service. The company also wanted to unlock and integrate more source systems. In addition, there was a strong need for orchestration and automation of data management - for modeling instead of coding.
Vesteda engaged Valid Digital Business after a pitch for advice on data management modernization and implementation. Jelle Vegter, Teamlead BI and Data Science: "Our requirements were that the service provider had to have a clear vision in the field of data, and be able to implement a data architecture. Of course, proven knowledge of and experience with the latest technology and data modeling were also necessary."

Valid put together a team of data specialists, architects, scrum masters and BI developers that helped build the data warehouse in the Azure cloud. Based on the Valid Modern Data Framework, Tobias was integrated into the data warehouse. This enabled access to other (internal and external) source systems. Valid also worked with agile development on the setup of the data warehouse, on the migration of historical data and on the most important reports.
When Vesteda decided to use the TimeXtender tooling for data management automation, Valid implemented this technology. In fact, Valid is a partner of TimeXtender. The tooling accelerated the development and further rollout of Vesteda's data warehouse and facilitated management. Says Vegter, "TimeXtender helped us optimize the factors of 'time,' 'money' and 'quality.'"
Vesteda now has a future-proof data warehouse in the cloud, in which the data have been consolidated and to which new data sources can easily be connected. The organization wants to use data to make a difference. "We helped build a sustainable foundation in close cooperation," says Joris Janssen, project manager and scrum master at Valid.
