2. Solve one painful, specific problem

The value of data is an abstract concept—until it solves a concrete problem. The fastest way to build trust and generate enthusiasm is not by promising a big platform, but by solving one small, painful problem.

Identify the most frustrating, data-related bottleneck in the organization. Is it a manual process that takes dozens of hours each week? Is it a report that no one trusts? Focus all your initial efforts on solving that one pain point. This tangible success is proof that the new way of working adds value. It creates advocates and lays the foundation of trust upon which the rest of the change can be built.

3. Set a good example yourself, every day

The quickest way to ensure that a cultural change fails is to say one thing and do another. If you want the organization to base its decisions on data, you must be the first to do so consistently.

This is very practical. Actively use the available dashboards in your own management meetings. Base your decisions explicitly on the numbers and ask for clarification if data is missing. If you demonstrate that this is the new standard for decision-making at the highest level, this approach will spread like wildfire through the rest of the management ranks.
